Begin your journey by learning about the history of Las Fallas, a festival that dates back to the 18th century and is now recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Discover how these enormous statues (or “fallas”) are built, how they’re paraded through the streets, and why they are eventually set on fire in a spectacular celebration.

After the introduction, it’s time to get creative! Under the guidance of expert artisans, you’ll learn the traditional techniques for building a mini Falla. Using materials such as paper mache, clay, and paints, you’ll sculpt, paint, and decorate your own mini version of a Falla, capturing all the colorful, detailed elements of this iconic Valencian art form.

In the spirit of the Las Fallas festival, you’ll have the opportunity to choose your own theme or design for your mini Falla. Whether you want to create a character, a figure, or an abstract design, you’ll learn how to bring it to life with your own personal touch. Don’t worry if you’re not a professional sculptor—our instructors will guide you every step of the way!

Throughout the workshop, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the meaning behind the Fallas figures. Many of these sculptures reflect current events, political satire, or humorous takes on everyday life. You’ll also learn how these incredible creations are an important part of Valencian identity and pride.
